The UFFA Luncheon – Preparation for GLC 2018
The UFFA Luncheon meeting that happened Monday (August 6, 2018) at Sheraton Kampala Hotel was certainly an event no Member deserved to miss. It was attended by 50 Members from different Logistics Companies.
The event focused on two major areas;
- The Customs Systems Support (CSP)
The Manager of Customs Procedures & Systems Mr. Salim Mubiru addressed Members that the Customs system support unit was recently restructured and upgraded from a Unit to a Section, and a number of changes have since taken place in the new Section. Therefore as the new CSP Team, felt it right to share with UFFA Members on the new CSP Section, and also paint a picture of the way forward and the need for full support & Cooperation from the Clearing fraternity. His presentation to the Logistics fraternity covered the following areas;
- The New CSP Structure & its implication
- Recent changes & their Impact on the Clearing fraternity
- Suggested areas of Joint cooperation
- Major up-coming changes & their Impact
- The Bigger CSP Dream
- The Global Logistics Convention 2018.
The Chairman of Uganda Freight Forwarders Association (UFFA) Mr.Hussein Kiddedde, addressed to Members that Uganda Freight Forwarders Association (UFFA) in partnership with the National Logistics Platform and the Ministry of Works and Transport will be hosting the 2nd edition of the Global Logistics Convention from 17th to 18th September, 2018 under the theme: “Freight Logistics: The Edge to Competitiveness” .
He mentioned that the Convention will bring together over five hundred (500) participants from across the world who will include Logisticians, Finance Institutions, Insurance firms, Manufacturers and Traders, Truck and Equipment dealers, Government officials, Civil Society Organizations, Development Partners, Academicians, and other private sector stakeholders from all over the region. The Convention presents an opportunity to be empowered, forge powerful networks across the region, dialogue, showcase and leverage individual and corporate capabilities to potential clients.
The Convention will include a cocktail of tailor-made activities such as key note presentations, motivational talks, conferences, stimulating discussions, sharing sessions, exhibitions, media engagements and networking events which will be facilitated by experts in the sector, government officials and development partners from within and beyond the region. It also offers a unique opportunity to share best practice in trade and policy, engage a wide range of stakeholders, and define roles and responsibilities in the development process to facilitate a competitive environment for the sector.
